Staff Attorney

A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Staff Attorney to join its legal team and provide counsel across employment, compliance, governance, contracts, and litigation matters. This opportunity offers significant exposure to executive leadership and a broad range of in-house legal responsibilities.
Compensation
Schedule
- Onsite during the first 30-60 days for training and onboarding
- Hybrid schedule available thereafter (approximately one day per week in office)
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and counsel to organizational leadership
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements
- Assist with employment and employee relations matters
- Support corporate governance and compliance initiatives
- Manage relationships with outside counsel
- Oversee and assist with litigation strategy and case management
- Conduct legal research and prepare reports for leadership
- Review policies and procedures for legal compliance
- Partner with various departments on risk management and operational matters
- Supervise legal support staff as needed
Qualifications
- Active attorney license, preferably in California
- Open to newly licensed attorneys, junior attorneys, and experienced counsel
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Experience in employment law, litigation, compliance, contracts, corporate governance, or nonprofit law is a plus
- Ability to work directly with executive leadership and multiple stakeholders
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
